About The Position

The Gymnastics Instructor creates a safe, fun, and progressive gymnastics experience for participants of all skill levels, from beginner classes for early childhood learners to school-age youth developing their skills. The instructor monitors open gymnastics sessions, assists with curriculum-based classes, sets up and takes down equipment, builds positive relationships with participants and members, and motivates youth through demonstrations and hands-on guidance. This part-time position is based at the Plaistow Community YMCA in Plaistow, New Hampshire, with varied shifts. The instructor must be able to commit to set hours during a 12-week session. Pay is $15.00–$18.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and certifications.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must be able to commit to set hours in a 12-week session.
Must have or be willing to obtain current Safe Sport, USAG Safety Certification, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
Experience working with youth in an instructional setting or personal expertise in gymnastics, dance, or cheer.
Ability to physically demonstrate skills appropriate for the levels taught.
Ability to communicate effectively using positive guidance and encouragement.
Ability to see and hear an emergency.
Ability to lift and maneuver equipment or weight up to 55 pounds, or that of a small to average-size child.
Ability to navigate uneven surfaces on the gym floor.

Responsibilities

Monitor open gymnastics sessions to ensure participants’ safety and enjoyment.
Assist with curriculum-based classes that engage and inspire participants.
Set up and take down equipment to maintain an organized environment.
Build meaningful relationships to enhance participant and member satisfaction.
Motivate and inspire youth to learn new skills through demonstrations and hands-on guidance.
