About The Position

The Front Climbing Club Gym Staff - Full-Time | Salt Lake City & South Main | $17–$19/hr. Reliable, Rugged, Ready - Join Our Gym Crew. Running a gym like ours takes more than someone who loves the outdoors - it takes someone dependable, sharp, and ready to handle whatever a shift throws at them. From the front desk to the retail shelves to the climbing floor, our Gym Staff keep the whole operation running smoothly. If you're the kind of person people can count on, we want to talk to you. The Front Climbing Club is more than a climbing gym - it's a full-blown community hub built around movement, connection, and adventure. Beyond our walls, we run retail, events, and a full slate of member experiences that keep things active and engaging day to day. We build rugged, high-quality spaces and back them up with a team that takes real ownership of how things run. This is a full-time position based out of our Salt Lake City & South Main gyms, paying $17–$19/hour. Gym Staff are the backbone of daily operations - checking members in, managing retail and merchandise, keeping the facility clean and organized, and making sure the floor runs safely. It's active, varied, hands-on work for someone who's dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable wearing a lot of hats.

Requirements

You're someone others can rely on - you show up, follow through, and take responsibility seriously
You've got 5+ years of experience across work, school, or trade training - customer service, sales, or hospitality background is a big plus
You're approachable, communicative, and genuinely enjoy helping people
You can juggle a dozen things at once without losing your cool
You've got an outdoorsy streak and an appreciation for climbing, but you don't need to be a dirtbag climber to thrive here
Your schedule can flex to nights, weekends, and whatever shifts come up
You're self-driven and stay productive even when things slow down, without needing someone looking over your shoulder
You're comfortable holding First Aid/CPR and Utah Alcohol Certification (we'll help you get certified upon hire)
You can lift at least 50 lbs and stay alert and safety-minded in a busy, gear-and-chalk-dust kind of environment

Nice To Haves

You're handy with MS Office
hospitality or hotel experience is a nice-to-have
You've got a sharp eye for cleanliness and a knack for turning a tricky member interaction into a win

Responsibilities

Greet everyone at the door, run waivers, and give tours that show off everything our gyms offer
Handle membership sign-ups, updates, and paperwork with efficiency and a friendly face
Answer calls and questions, and promote upcoming events, memberships, and merchandise
Ring up sales, process returns and exchanges, and support competitions and vendor markets
Keep the space sharp with daily cleaning, deep cleans, and general facility upkeep
Patrol the gym with a tablet in hand, flagging hazards and reporting issues to management
Coach basic climbing technique and be a reliable, welcoming face on the floor for guests
Keep an eye on the walls - checking certification tags, belay technique, and rule-following
Call out unsafe behavior on the spot and run belay tests and autobelay orientations
Take ownership of whatever comes up during a shift - we count on our staff to stay sharp, accountable, and solution-focused
