About The Position

The Front Climbing Club is seeking reliable, sharp, and ready individuals to join their Gym Staff team. This full-time position is based out of their Salt Lake City & South Main gyms, paying $17–$19/hour. Gym Staff are essential to daily operations, handling tasks such as checking members in, managing retail, maintaining facility cleanliness, and ensuring floor safety. It's an active, varied, and hands-on role for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and adaptable.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated reliability, follow-through, and a serious approach to responsibility.
  • 5+ years of experience across work, school, or trade training.
  • Customer service, sales, or hospitality background is a plus.
  • Approachable, communicative, and enjoys helping people.
  • Ability to multitask effectively without losing composure.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and varied shifts.
  • Self-driven and able to stay productive during slower periods.
  • Comfortable holding First Aid/CPR and Utah Alcohol Certification (certification provided upon hire).
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • A keen eye for cleanliness and skill in resolving member interactions positively.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stay alert and safety-minded in a busy, active environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet members and guests, process waivers, and provide gym tours.
  • Manage membership sign-ups, updates, and related paperwork.
  • Answer phone calls and inquiries, and promote events, memberships, and merchandise.
  • Process sales, returns, and exchanges, and support competitions and vendor markets.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness through daily tasks and deep cleaning.
  • Monitor the gym floor using a tablet to identify and report hazards.
  • Provide basic climbing technique coaching and be a welcoming presence on the floor.
  • Oversee climbing walls, checking certification tags, belay technique, and rule adherence.
  • Address unsafe behavior immediately and conduct belay tests and autobelay orientations.
  • Take ownership of shift responsibilities, remaining sharp, accountable, and solution-focused.
