About The Position
Guitar Center’s mission is to develop and nurture lifelong musicians and help people experience the joy of creating music. The Guitar Technician (Luthier), also described as a Repair Technician (Guitar), performs maintenance and repair services on customer-owned instruments and helps maintain specified store inventory. The role supports business growth through excellent customer experiences and high-quality work. Successful technicians provide knowledgeable, approachable, and genuine customer service; take initiative to resolve issues and identify opportunities; build product, store operations, sales, and leadership knowledge; and communicate techniques effectively when training others. Guitar Center offers gig leave for employee musicians, allowing them to take time off to tour and return to their job.
Requirements
- Skilled understanding of guitar repair.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and connect with customers in a meaningful way.
- Ability to identify opportunities and issues and follow through on work activities.
- Ability to learn quickly and take positive action independently.
- Ability to develop knowledge and skills in products, store operations, sales, and leadership.
- Ability to train learners effectively and communicate information and techniques so they are retained.
- Willingness and ability to work through Guitar Center’s certification program to gain a base understanding of products and sales techniques.

Responsibilities
- Interact with customers and ensure a positive customer experience.
- Service customer-owned instruments with a high level of craftsmanship.
- Maintain store-owned gear as requested.
- Complete warranty repair work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
