About The Position

The Guest Support Specialist promotes wholeness in a person's life by providing emergency and supportive services that aim to eradicate poverty and homelessness, enhance quality of life, and offer a buffer against adverse life events. This role delivers quality social support services, including spiritual, emotional, instrumental, and informational support. Responsibilities include conducting admissions and intakes, facilitating safety multi-support team meetings, and ensuring that appropriate acuity level needs are met. All staff members at Cherry Street perform their job duties in the context of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, with the express purpose of ministering to individuals through the practical discipleship steps of eliminating poverties of spirit, soul, and body.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Driver's License Required.
  • Must agree to the Cherry Street Mission Ministries Statement of Faith as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mental health field, shelter care, or similar preferred.
  • Mental Health First Aid Certified or completed within the first year of employment.
  • Suicide Prevention Training or completed within the first year of employment.
  • Trauma-Informed Care Training or completed within the first year of employment.
  • CSMM Discipleship Training.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging and providing generous hospitality for all guests seeking services at Cherry Street Mission.
  • Conducting admission and intake, using a screening tool, and providing referrals to the Ready for Life Program, High Acuity Program, or other applicable program and service tracks.
  • Assisting Community Resource Navigators and/or community partners in contacting difficult-to-reach Guests and ensuring streamlined communication.
  • Entering information and documentation into software accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Answering incoming calls related to Guest Services and Programs.
  • Monitoring building safety and flow (entering/exiting).
  • Conducting crisis intervention and debriefing when necessary, including verbal de-escalation.
  • Managing the Guest Residential check-in process, if assigned to shelters.
  • Encouraging Guests in their personal goals and acknowledging milestones.
  • Greeting and providing direction to volunteer teams, donors, community service providers, etc.
  • Attending internal and external training opportunities and all mandatory staff meetings to advance skill sets.
  • Performing accurate risk assessments and implementing harm reduction techniques (e.g., mindful of person and others' safety, reporting security breaches).
  • Maintaining professional, moral, and ethical boundaries (e.g., confidentiality, respect of differences, concise and honest documentation).
  • Upholding all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhering to all written policies and procedures.
  • Incident reporting and responding to emergencies accordingly.
  • Identifying facility issues and submitting proper and timely work requests.
  • Providing Christ-centered guidance and modeling a life of wholeness by engaging with the faith community, maintaining an active worship and prayer life, and leading with Christ-like behavior and conduct.
  • Supporting the organization by upholding the mission, vision, and values of Cherry Street Mission Ministries in behavior and speech.
  • Collaborating with Residential Support Specialists to ensure building needs are met, if assigned to shelters.
