About The Position

The Guest Services Clerk provides professional services in a variety of positions throughout the Fair Grounds facility to satisfy customer inquiries, needs and requests in a manner which meets and exceeds customer and company expectations. The Fair Grounds is America's second oldest horse racing track, a New Orleans staple since 1852, and a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Must be able to obtain a Racing License from the Louisiana Racing Commission.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Be a self-starter and work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible hours as required including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Disseminate accurate and real-time information to customers regarding the Fair Grounds’ offerings and escalate requests for information from superiors when needed. Educate customers about the offerings as needed.
  • Create and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, quality, creativity and teamwork.
  • Maintain positive relations with customers and provide service satisfactory to customer and Fair Grounds requirements.
  • Anticipate and respond to a wide variety of customer needs and requests quickly and efficiently.
  • Consult with customers to maintain goodwill and obtain satisfactory outcomes for disputes. Escalate disputes with superiors when appropriate.
  • Build customer goodwill using proper etiquette techniques.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer personal and account information when such is required to process transactions.
  • Assist in monitoring and enforcing access to restricted and reserved areas in the facility.
  • Advise and consult with management to recognize opportunities to improve operations that better serve customers.
  • Promote attainment of individual and business unit goals.
  • Respond to a wide variety of unexpected and emerging issues and define appropriate directions to address such issues.
