About The Position

Legalist is a tech-enabled alternative asset manager that uses proprietary data-driven origination to invest in uncorrelated legal and government-payment assets. Founded out of Y Combinator in 2016, Legalist manages over $1.7 billion for endowments, foundations, and family offices.

Legalist is looking for a GTM Engineer to join our team and build the systems, workflows, and automation that power our go-to-market motion. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for someone with real experience running Clay-based workflows who enjoys combining data enrichment, personalization, and outbound automation into scalable systems. Our ideal candidate can take a sales or growth problem, figure out the technical approach, build a solution, and iterate quickly.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience in a GTM engineering, revenue operations, sales engineering, or growth engineering role
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining workflows in Clay (required)
• Experience with outbound sales tooling and data enrichment providers (e.g. Clearbit, ZoomInfo, Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator)
• Experience integrating GTM tools with a CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot) and outbound sequencing platforms
• Working knowledge of APIs, webhooks, and basic scripting (Python, JavaScript, or similar) to automate workflows
• Comfortable working with messy or unstructured data and building processes to clean and structure it
• Comfortable working independently and figuring things out without a detailed set of requirements

• Experience working with financial, legal, or other complex datasets a plus

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain GTM automation workflows in Clay to power outbound prospecting, enrichment, and lead scoring
• Build data enrichment pipelines pulling from multiple sources (e.g. Clearbit, Apollo, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator) to generate accurate, actionable prospect and account lists
• Integrate Clay with our CRM (Salesforce/HubSpot) and outbound sequencing tools (e.g. Instantly, Smartlead, Outreach) to keep data and workflows in sync
• Build and refine lead scoring and segmentation logic to prioritize the highest-value accounts and contacts
• Automate manual GTM processes using Clay's native integrations, APIs, and webhooks, supplemented with lightweight scripting (Python/JavaScript) where needed
• Partner closely with sales and marketing to translate business requirements into working technical systems
• Monitor data quality, deliverability, and workflow performance, and continuously test and iterate to improve conversion rates
• Build reporting and dashboards to track pipeline generation, campaign performance, and system health
• Stay current on new GTM tools, enrichment providers, and automation techniques
