Growth Engineer

Circleback•San Francisco, CA
•$150,000 - $220,000

About The Position

Circleback is hiring a Growth Engineer to improve the product-led growth loop through which meeting participants discover and adopt Circleback. The role focuses on the in-product experience, working closely with the Founding Marketer on experiments and directly with the founders as part of a small team. The engineer will work across the stack to improve the experience from receiving meeting notes through signup, onboarding, activation, and long-term retention. The role includes building and maintaining analytics and experimentation capabilities, investigating why adoption spreads across some companies but not others, and developing growth features such as upgrade flows, referral tools, and integrations. The technology spans web (React, Next.js, Prisma, SWR), desktop (Electron, Swift), and mobile (React Native).

Requirements

  • Experience shipping production software, including growth experiments.
  • Experience instrumenting a funnel, such as signup conversion, activation, or retention.
  • Ability to investigate data independently, including writing queries or analyzing funnels.
  • Care about users as much as implementation.
  • Strong product judgment and interest in experiments that improve signup, activation, or retention.
  • Low-ego, direct working style and comfort operating with limited process.

Nice To Haves

  • Background as a former founder, early startup engineer, or engineer who has owned features end-to-end; these backgrounds are common among people who have thrived at Circleback but are not required.

Responsibilities

  • Improve each step of the product-led growth loop, including the notes non-users receive, signup, onboarding, and activation.
  • Investigate why Circleback spreads across entire teams at some companies but remains limited to a few users at others, and build product improvements to address the gap.
  • Build and maintain analytics and experimentation infrastructure, including event instrumentation, attribution, dashboards, and A/B tests.
  • Improve retention by identifying what keeps users engaged long term and helping more users reach that point.
  • Build in-product growth features such as upgrade flows, referral tools, and integrations.
  • Develop across web, desktop, and mobile applications.
  • Work with the Founding Marketer to decide what to test and share experiment learnings.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Free lunch and dinners.
  • Flexible health coverage.
  • 401K matching.
