Growth Engineer

Middesk•San Francisco, CA
•$150,000 - $230,000

About The Position

Middesk is hiring its first Growth Engineer to join a small engineering pod working directly with Marketing and go-to-market teams. The role focuses on attracting more of the right customers and helping existing customers get more value from the platform. The engineer will build and measure features across acquisition and expansion, using results to guide subsequent work. Projects include in-product trials and discovery, self-service onboarding, a rebuild of middesk.com, and automated expansion signals. The position emphasizes customer outcomes, end-to-end ownership, experimentation, and close collaboration with non-engineering partners.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience shipping production web applications.
  • Strong full-stack fundamentals; Middesk uses Rails and React.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous environments where assumptions and priorities change routinely.
  • Strong frontend skills and an eye for user-facing quality.
  • Comfort with SQL and analytics, including defining and defending a metric.
  • Track record of owning outcomes end to end, including measurement and iteration after launch.
  • Strong communication skills with Marketing, Sales, and other non-engineering partners.
  • Startup experience and a hands-on AI tooling workflow.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior growth engineering, product-led growth, or experimentation experience, including A/B testing frameworks and funnel analytics.
  • SEO or AI search (AEO) experience, or experience building marketing sites that serve as an acquisition channel.
  • Fintech, compliance, or identity experience where data accuracy matters.
  • Experience as a former founder or early-stage startup engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Build dashboard features that help customers discover and trial products in context, including trial credits, side-by-side proof points, and in-product case studies based on customers’ own data.
  • Build and improve self-service onboarding so smaller businesses can sign up, get value, and convert without sales assistance.
  • Own engineering for the middesk.com rebuild, including site structure, performance, content for people and AI agents, hosted demo environments, and testing infrastructure for Marketing.
  • Work with Marketing, Sales, and Account Management to understand funnel observations and turn them into a prioritized backlog.
  • Apply Middesk’s internal agents to growth work such as account and contact enrichment, content research, topic curation, and funnel analysis.
  • Instrument shipped features, measure results, and use those results to determine what to build next.
