About The Position

This role focuses on the engineering that drives customer acquisition for Sauna. You will be responsible for website experiments, tracking, integrations, and internal tools that support growth initiatives. You will collaborate closely with marketers to design and implement experiments, analyze results, and understand the product and its economics. The position involves taking projects from initial brief to production, ensuring the customer journey and data are accurately tracked and analyzed. While marketing handles campaign strategy and creative, you will own the technical systems and measurement infrastructure. You will also partner with Product on instrumentation and experiments that impact activation and retention. Your initial 30 days will involve deeply understanding the product and customer journey from initial contact to payment. You will audit existing tracking, define event standards with Growth and Product teams, and address any gaps in reliable data collection. A key deliverable will be shipping a focused website or funnel experiment with complete measurement, establishing a baseline for attribution, trial costs, and acquisition economics.

Requirements

  • Shipped production software across frontend, backend, and data.
  • Comfortable with TypeScript/JavaScript, React, APIs, webhooks, and SQL.
  • Ability to diagnose problems across the full technical path.
  • Experience implementing conversion tracking and ad-platform integrations.
  • Understanding of how conversion signals influence campaign optimization.
  • Ability to trace missing or duplicated events to their source.
  • Experience instrumenting an event-based analytics system (e.g., PostHog) and using data for growth or product decisions.
  • Understanding of funnels, attribution, and acquisition economics.
  • Ability to explain metric choices, potential misleading factors, and verification methods.
  • Active use of AI tools and responsibility for their output.
  • Ability to explain shipped code and configuration, verify assumptions, and adapt approaches.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Clear communication with nontechnical teammates.
  • Care about the details of the customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own acquisition tracking end to end, including defining conversion events, implementing browser and server-side tracking, and connecting campaign attribution to signups, product usage, and payments.
  • Build and maintain integrations with Meta Conversions API, Google Ads conversion tracking, and GTM, ensuring proper consent handling, event deduplication, and monitoring.
  • Ship website and funnel experiments by building landing pages, forms, and conversion flows in TypeScript and React, collaborating with marketing and design to align messaging and offers.
  • Ensure data dependability by using SQL and PostHog to investigate funnels and cohorts, reconciling ad-platform reports with product and billing data, and identifying missing or duplicated events.
  • Evaluate acquisition economics, including trial and inference costs.
  • Turn hypotheses into tested releases by defining success metrics and guardrails, implementing experiments, analyzing results with statistical care, and recommending next steps.
  • Build tools to automate recurring growth work by connecting analytics, billing, CRM, and marketing systems, leveraging AI coding tools for automations with error handling and inspectability.
  • Own shipped work by writing tests, reviewing generated code, documenting decisions, and monitoring systems post-release.
  • Collaborate with product engineers on security and architecture, and maintain the growth stack's understandability.
