Groups and Care Pastor (DAL)

Gateway Church•Dallas, TX

About The Position

The Groups and Care Pastor leads the Groups and Care ministries at one Gateway Church campus, owning their local plans within the campus operating plan, combined budget, ministry Team, and Serve Teams while upholding church-wide standards. The role adapts how those standards are expressed locally without changing them. Because care begins in groups, the pastor personally responds to needs that exceed what a healthy groups team can hold, including crises, grief, benevolence, hospital needs, and sustained support. The pastor owns the campus groups strategy, including launches, terms, group offerings, leader recruitment and development, co-leader and coach structures, leadership orientation, and a culture of belonging. The pastor also owns campus care ministry, including crisis response, hospital visitation, grief support, benevolence, counseling within the scope of pastoral care, support and recovery groups, and funerals and memorial services. Care records must be maintained confidentially in accordance with Gateway's care, confidentiality, and reporting policies. The role leads and develops ministry staff and volunteers, stewards the approved budget, reviews ministry measures, participates in cross-campus meetings, and partners with the Campus Pastor on outreach through groups. The pastor serves the congregation through prayer, presence, pastoral care, teaching, and ministry services, including weddings, funerals, baby dedications, and communion. Weekend services and churchwide events require participation as the ministry calendar requires, and the pastor is available to the congregation as pastoral-care needs arise. The role also supports, recruits, and develops Serve Team members and serves alongside the broader team as ministry and organizational needs arise. Candidates must have a clear passion for Jesus and a strong biblical foundation, effective communication skills, sound pastoral judgment, emotional and relational intelligence, and the ability to recruit and develop leaders, manage ambiguity, lead change, hold confidentiality, and handle crisis and high-emotion situations. Four or more years of ministry experience, a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and a ministerial license or eligibility for licensure upon employment are required. Candidates must be a member of Gateway Church or become a member upon employment.
