Under the direction of the Center Director, the Assistant Group Supervisor shall conduct the duties of this position in a manner that is consistent with and follows all YMCA Personnel and Child Care Policies, including State Regulations for Child Care Centers and the Character Traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. This role involves attending trainings, being familiar with and adhering to policies relating to Risk Management, and reporting concerns regarding children, the program, and co-workers to the Center Director in a timely manner. The Assistant Group Supervisor is responsible for establishing and modeling appropriate classroom management skills and techniques, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children through appropriate supervision and interactions, and managing behaviors through positive guidance, redirection, and conflict resolution. They will also assist the Center Director in carrying out activities related to ensuring and measuring positive outcomes for children, parents, and staff, and participate fully in all center activities, including field trips, swimming, and food service. Maintaining an orderly classroom and program area, communicating with parents, reporting parent concerns to the Group Supervisor, and maintaining the confidentiality of children's records are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the role involves coordinating and planning with other teachers regarding schedules, breaks, and activities while ensuring staff-to-child ratios are maintained, assisting in maintaining and submitting program records such as lesson plans, and attending staff meetings and trainings for professional development. The Assistant Group Supervisor will also assist the Center Director or Group Supervisor with any other duties required to maintain quality child care.
