About The Position

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is hiring dedicated and enthusiastic Group Leaders for its School Age Child Care program at KIPP DC sites. This role offers an opportunity to support children in a collaborative before- and after-care environment. Group Leaders supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities, while creating a safe and stimulating setting that supports their social-emotional and academic growth. The position is part-time during the school year, with morning and/or evening hours Monday through Friday at the Webb or Benning campus. Compensation is $18.40–$21.00 per hour.

Requirements

Experience working with elementary- to middle-school-aged children in a school or childcare setting.
High school diploma or GED.
Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills.
CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Relevant coursework or degree preferred.
Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Responsibilities

Supervise and engage school-age children in recreational, academic, and enrichment activities.
Create a safe and stimulating environment for all participants.
Plan and implement daily lessons and activities that support social-emotional and academic growth.
Provide guidance and positive behavior support.
Maintain communication with families and program staff.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
