About The Position

Omega Community Development Corporation is seeking a dedicated and proactive Group Activity Monitor to oversee and support scholars in grades K-6 during various school-related activities. This part-time position involves leading weekly art classes for young scholars and monitoring scholars during mealtimes, activities, field trips, arrival, dismissal, and restroom breaks, as well as providing behavioral and social-emotional support within the Scholars of H.O.P.E. program. Additionally, the role includes assisting with family engagement events and attending required meetings and events.

Requirements

  • Experience in a school setting or working with children
  • Ability to pass a BCI/FBI Background Check

Responsibilities

  • Monitor scholars during meal times, school activities, field trips, arrival, dismissal, and restroom breaks to ensure safety and proper conduct.
  • Develop and implement engaging art lesson plans that are age-appropriate and align with educational standards.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in various art techniques including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, art history, and mediums, ensuring all scholars understand and can apply new skills.
  • Provide behavioral and social-emotional support to scholars, helping them navigate social interactions, manage emotions, and adhere to school rules and expectations.
  • Assist with the Scholars of H.O.P.E. program, engaging with scholars in a positive and supportive manner to promote personal growth and development.
  • Support family engagement events throughout the year, including planning, setup, and participation to strengthen school-family connections.
  • Attend all required meetings and events related to the Scholars of H.O.P.E. program, contributing to program development and ensuring alignment with program goals.
