About The Position

The Activity Monitor provides direct support to senior center participants by assisting with daily activities, welcoming visitors, maintaining a safe and positive environment, and helping ensure the smooth operation of programs and services. The position also assists with opening and securing the facility as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in related work
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
  • Strong commitment in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Physical examination record or pass physical examination by a CAO physician
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and proof of motor vehicle insurance coverage
  • Completion of CAO Employment application
  • Completion of NYS SCR Clearance Form with acceptable clearance
  • Criminal Record Certification and free of criminal convictions of crimes against children (misdemeanor or felony)
  • Fingerprinting required.
  • Release for Reference Checks

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome seniors, visitors, and program participants.
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning up activities, events, and program spaces.
  • Support daily recreational, educational, and wellness activities for seniors.
  • Encourage participation and help create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Provide basic information about available programs, services, and community resources.
  • Assist seniors with completing sign-in sheets and other program-related paperwork.
  • Monitor activity areas to ensure participant safety and adherence to facility rules.
  • Assist with distributing program materials, meals, refreshments, or supplies as needed.
  • Report participant concerns, facility issues, or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of program areas and equipment.
  • Assist with room setup and breakdown for special events and activities.
  • Help monitor transportation arrivals and departures when applicable.
  • Open and/or secure the building according to established procedures when assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Present a professional image in conduct, attitude, and attire.
  • Complete mandatory training (if applicable).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
