About The Position

Parsons is seeking a full-time Groundwater Treatment System Operator to function as a treatment system assistant operator for a ~ 20-35 gallon per minute groundwater/stormwater recovery and treatment system. The system utilizes physical and chemical treatment processes including activated carbon filtration, clarifier with polymer injection, pH adjustment, multimedia filters, and filter press.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in the operation of water, wastewater, or groundwater treatment systems or related process systems involving physical and chemical treatment.
  • Minimum High School diploma, or equivalent, and 5+ years of related work experience, or a 2-year degree in a related field with 4+ years of experience.
  • Maryland Waterworks and Waste Systems Certification (minimum of I-6) is required.
  • Mechanical and Electrical troubleshooting and maintenance aptitude/experience essential.
  • Driver’s license in good standing and vehicle.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with email and Microsoft office applications (Word/Excel).
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work under inclement weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of chemical addition systems reactors, pumping systems, mixing systems, clarification and filter press systems.
  • Knowledge of automated control systems and SCADA.
  • Completion of a 40-hour HAZWOPER OSHA training course (with an annual 8-hour update - current preferred, expired acceptable) is preferred for industrial or hazardous wastewater operations.

Responsibilities

  • Daily operation of treatment facilities, including pumping and controls equipment.
  • Calibration of metering and monitoring equipment.
  • Performance of basic field laboratory tests.
  • Collection of samples and maintenance of documentation in record logs.
  • Performing routine laboratory analytical testing for treatment process optimization.
  • Preparation of required field and office reports.
  • Initiating basic reports and/or establishing and maintaining logs and records.
  • Developing discharge monitoring reports for signature by others.
