About The Position

The Groundsperson supports the crew by performing work from the ground and observing and helping enforce safety rules to maintain a clean, safe work zone. The role involves clearing debris, preparing and feeding brush into a woodchipper, handling materials and equipment, and helping protect employees and the public from hazards. The position may require long hours, overtime, and weekend work, including during emergencies. Specific hours are assigned by the supervisor. Requirements

Valid driver's license required.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for the job.
Must meet I-9 work authorization requirements.
Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.
May be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
Keep the work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws, pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
Define staging areas.
Set up and break down materials, tools, and equipment as required.
Prepare and feed brush into the woodchipper.
Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
Operate various trucks and equipment as assigned.
Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment, keep assigned equipment neat and orderly, and report the need for major repairs.
Tie knots and set up rope breaks and speed lines according to industry standards.
Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
