About The Position

Hirschfeld Properties is seeking a Groundskeeper to join their team at the Steeple Chase Apartment Homes community in Cockeysville, Maryland. The groundskeeper is responsible for the meticulous upkeep of landscaping, outdoor facilities, and common areas, ensuring that properties are visually appealing and well-maintained. This role requires an eye for detail, a passion for outdoor maintenance, and a dedication to excellence, contributing to the quality of life for residents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required.
  • Ability to complete cleaning tasks in a timely, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ Years in groundkeeper/porter experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Physically walk the property on a frequent basis and remove litter, debris, and pet droppings from the grounds, with particular attention to pool area, recreational areas, laundry room, mail rooms, dumpster areas, grounds adjacent to the road, in front of the office, walkways, parking lots, and drives.
  • Perform "trash-out" duties at vacated apartments on a daily basis, including removing abandoned furniture, trash, and boxes, transferring them to the dumpster or storage area, and ensuring dumpster doors are closed.
  • Detail property on a regular basis by cleaning and raking shrub areas, shoveling mud when necessary, and using a blower to keep sidewalks and walking areas clean of loose grass and brush.
  • Repair and replace windows, screens, sliding glass doors, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance on property as requested by Property Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist with various physical tasks as directed, such as tearing down fences, digging post holes, and carrying abandoned sofas.
  • Assist with "make-ready" duties when requested by the Property Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Help clean and maintain storage areas.
  • Complete minor and routine service requests when requested by Property Manager and/or Maintenance Supervisor, following established procedures.
  • Change locks and make keys when directed.
  • Distribute resident communications, such as upcoming events, pest control notices, and newsletters.
  • Perform work area clean-up and safety-related duties.
  • Safely operate a pressure washer to maintain curb appeal.
  • Assist in keeping grounds neat and free of litter by raking, sweeping, and shoveling as circumstances warrant.
  • Replace exterior lighting on a regular basis.
  • If certified for pool maintenance, clean and maintain the pool as directed.
  • Maintain awareness of proper safety precautions at all times.
  • Observe the condition of the apartment property and immediately report or initiate action to correct unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure awareness of all utility meter cut-offs, apartment and fixture cut-offs, and sewer cleanouts.
  • Ensure that storage areas remain locked when not in use.
