The Building Services Department is seeking (1) Groundskeeper I to join the already awesome team, taking the Building Services Department to the next level of excellence!

Requirements

Valid GA driver's license
Ability to operate hand tools and equipment used in groundskeeping, such as lawnmowers, weed eaters, shears, trimmers, etc.
Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions.
Ability to lift to 50 lbs. or more.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

Performs entry-level groundskeeping and landscape maintenance duties.
Learns the proper methods and procedures needed to complete the assigned tasks and becomes familiar with the Georgia State University (GSU) campus at this training level.
Cares for the campus grounds includes mowing lawns, watering flowers and shrubbery, trimming trees and bushes, etc.
Walks the assigned campus area, collecting and removing trash from campus grounds.
Plants trees, flowers, and bushes; rakes and bags leaves.
Sprays lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
Learns to operate the groundskeeping and maintenance equipment, such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and pressure washers for cleaning campus fountains, outdoor furniture, and other campus areas.
Sharpens tools, such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
Assists in plant setups in designated areas for special meetings and events.
Assists in inclement weather duties as assigned when needed, such as clearing snow from sidewalks and other campus areas.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
