The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker 3 specializing in Tree Care for its Facilities Management department. This role involves performing a wide range of landscape and garden duties, including planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding, and snow/ice removal. The position requires operating various hand and power tools, mowers, trenching devices, forklifts, and hoists. Incumbents are expected to work independently with a strong knowledge of gardening, landscape methods, and grounds tree service work. Familiarity with power equipment such as chain saws, stump grinders, limb chippers, and dump trucks is necessary. This role will specifically focus on tree care, adhering to ANSI Standards for pruning, fertilization, planting, and removal. The job requires willingness to work at heights, climb trees, and learn proper knot tying for safety. The incumbent will need to acquire knowledge of tree safety, tree rescue, and herbicide/fertilizer application. A valid State of Nevada Driver's license is mandatory, and employees must obtain forklift and man lift operator licenses within their first 11 months of employment.
