About The Position

The Grounds Maintenance Technician supports the maintenance of terminal facilities and grounds to ensure safe and efficient operations. The position primarily works day shift, but may occasionally require weekend and holiday work, as well as emergency callouts. The technician works independently and as part of a team, and may seek support from Maintenance Mechanics. This entry-level position offers opportunities to develop skills and advance into mechanical roles. The role includes groundskeeping, landscaping, stormwater-system cleaning, site-amenity and property upkeep, and repairs to roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots. The technician safely operates and maintains vehicles, machinery, tools, and equipment; applies and handles groundskeeping chemicals according to instructions; conducts safety inspections; and follows established safety, quality, and operational procedures. Work takes place indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions and may involve elevated platforms. The technician may supervise temporary workers and contractors, assist Maintenance Mechanics, and perform other assignments as requested by management. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance, landscaping practices, and property upkeep.
Ability to safely operate and maintain hand tools, power equipment, and light and heavy equipment.
Basic understanding of equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and safe work practices.
Ability to follow work instructions, prioritize tasks, and complete work orders efficiently.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, equipment, and debris as required.
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including raking, sweeping, digging, trimming, mowing, and handling landscaping materials.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work on elevated platforms when required.
Ability to operate vehicles, machinery, power tools, and groundskeeping equipment safely.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in environments involving possible exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, uneven terrain, and other industrial or environmental hazards.
Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment.
Ability to perform the essential functions safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, industrial maintenance, or facilities maintenance.
Experience operating groundskeeping or light industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with the immediate supervisor to complete prioritized projects and work orders safely and efficiently.
Assist with construction, maintenance, and care of terminal grounds, including grass, shrubbery, flower beds, and trees.
Perform routine and directed groundskeeping and landscaping maintenance.
Clean stormwater systems and remove accumulated debris.
Inspect, maintain, and repair terminal properties and site amenities, including signs, cables, chains, barricades, gates, posts, fences, and rock walls.
Repair roadways, sidewalks, and parking lots, as applicable.
Inspect grounds, drains, manhole covers, and other areas for trash and debris; collect and transport debris to designated collection points.
Safely apply, store, label, and dispose of groundskeeping, horticulture, and turf-management chemicals according to instructions and specifications.
Safely operate vehicles and equipment, including pickup trucks, tractors, backhoes, telehandlers, forklifts, aerial lifts, and mowers.
Operate groundskeeping tools and equipment, including chainsaws, line trimmers, leaf blowers, sprayers, and power tools.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance and cleaning of groundskeeping and building-maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery within the scope of the position.
Conduct safety inspections of terminal grounds and related site amenities.
Work on elevated platforms accessed by ladders or stairs, as required.
Perform work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
Supervise temporary workers and contractors as needed.
Follow established safety guidelines, quality standards, operational objectives, and procedures.
Maintain and properly use required personal protective equipment.
Assist Maintenance Mechanics as needed.
Perform other duties, projects, or assignments as requested by management.
