About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining City parks, grounds, facilities, and rights-of-way. The technician performs groundskeeping, landscaping, repairs, and maintenance work using a range of light and heavy machinery. The position may require work outside normal hours during on-call and emergency situations, as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• No felony convictions within the prior ten years or while employed in the position.
• U.S. citizenship or legal work status.
• Pass a detailed background investigation.
• Work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate light and heavy machinery, including commercial mowers, tractors, weed eaters, and blowers.
• Apply herbicides and pesticides as needed.
• Repair fences, playground equipment, and sidewalks.
• Install and maintain irrigation systems.
• Lay sod and install landscapes.
• Remove litter and trash from parks and City buildings.
• Prune trees and shrubs.
• Pour concrete.
• Vacuum leaves.
• Work outside normal hours in on-call and emergency situations as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
