About The Position

Performs a variety of work related to planting, maintaining, and watering trees, along with day-to-day grounds maintenance and general landscaping. Work includes watering, weeding, installing mulch, repairing irrigation systems, and documenting work performed. Duties may also include manual labor such as collecting garbage, picking up paper, mowing, trimming, and snow removal as needed. The role may involve operating lawn tractors, self-propelled turf mowers, weed trimmers, hand tools, brush clippers, maintenance equipment, and chainsaws under supervision; driving pickup trucks; minor pruning; cleaning vehicles; painting and cleaning cabinets; and assisting in locating and repairing underground faults. Performs other duties of a comparable level or type as required.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to work independently and exercise judgment regarding work to be done.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills.
• Knowledge of safety standards and practices.
• Skills in operating applicable hand and mechanical tools and related equipment.
• Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange or convey information and provide or receive work direction.
• Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a valid North Dakota driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the City of Bismarck does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

• Plant, maintain, and remove trees.
