About The Position

The Groundman assists a team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems. The role performs new construction and maintenance and repair work while prioritizing safety, and reports to the Foreman. It includes maintaining company vehicles, equipment, and tools; inspecting rubber goods and personal protective equipment (PPE); and following safety protocols, including proper PPE use and understanding how insulated protective cover isolates differences of potential. The position involves rigorous physical labor, outdoor work in a range of weather conditions, and work at extended job-site assignments, including out-of-state locations. The Groundman must be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and an on-call rotation.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
Able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Able to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
Willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Responsibilities

Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems while putting safety first.
Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Follow safety protocols, including PPE use and understanding insulated protective cover.
Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Understand when to wear personal protective equipment.
Perform rigorous physical labor.
Be available to work outages, storms, emergencies, and an on-call rotation.
