About The Position

The Groundman is an entry point to a career in construction and maintenance of the power grid. The role assists a team with building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems and reports to the Foreman. Work takes place outdoors at construction job sites and may involve travel, out-of-state assignments, outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotations.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
• Understanding of when to wear personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with new construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems, prioritizing safety.
• Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Follow safety protocols, use PPE, understand insulated protective cover for isolating differences of potential, and inspect rubber goods and PPE.
• Perform rigorous physical labor and communicate by talking, listening, and using hand signals.
• Work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and storms.
• Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
