About The Position

The Groundman assists a team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems as an entry step into work involving the construction and maintenance of the power grid. The position reports to the Foreman and prioritizes safety while performing field work in varied and sometimes extreme weather and construction-site conditions. The role includes physical labor, maintaining equipment, and availability for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
• Able to talk, listen, and use hand signals to communicate.
• Able to stand, walk, handle objects, operate tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
• Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Follow safety protocols, including using PPE and understanding insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment, and understand when PPE must be worn.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
