About The Position

The Groundman is an entry-level position assisting a team with the construction, repair, and maintenance of overhead electrical distribution systems. The role reports to the Foreman and requires a strong focus on safety while working outdoors in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions. The Groundman may travel to extended or out-of-state assignments and must be available for outages, storms, emergencies, on-call rotation, and work outside normal business hours.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
Able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Able to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
Willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Responsibilities

Assist with new construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Follow safety protocols, use PPE, and understand insulated protective cover for isolating differences of potential.
Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment (PPE), and understand when PPE must be worn.
Perform rigorous physical labor.
Communicate by talking, listening, and using hand signals.
Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
Respond to outages, storms, and emergencies, including participating in an on-call rotation.
