About The Position

The Groundman is an entry point to a career as an electrical worker and supports a line construction crew while learning the skills and safety procedures used in the trade. The role includes preparing materials, stocking trucks, assisting crew members, maintaining the worksite and equipment, and completing required company and safety training. A desire to learn the skills of a Lineman is essential. A hitch schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off is available. A CDL is strongly preferred, or the employee must be able to acquire a CDL permit within 60 days of hire.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to acquire a CDL beginner's permit within 60 days of hire.
• Ability and desire to learn the necessary skills of a Lineman.
• Ability to read and understand minimum approach distances.
• Commitment to quality work and putting safety first.
• Fluency in English, as worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Pass required pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
• Provide valid U.S. work authorization documents for E-Verify.
• Satisfactory pre-employment background check results.
• Pass a pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test and hold or obtain a DOT medical card.

Nice To Haves

• CDL Class A license.

• Completion of an accredited apprentice program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the crew in completing its duties.
• Learn the basic materials and equipment used in line construction.
• Learn safety procedures and work area protection.
• Maintain cleanliness of the job site and equipment.
• Complete required company training, including safety training.
• Perform administrative duties as required.
• Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership.
