About The Position

Distinctive Tree Care LLC is hiring a Ground Operation Specialist (Groundman) to support tree-care crews with safe and efficient tree removal, pruning, and maintenance. The role works on the ground to assist climbing arborists and bucket operators, manage equipment and ropes, handle debris, complete cleanup, and help maintain a safe worksite. The company provides tree care and arboricultural services in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and other states.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel out of town for extended periods or on short notice, generally due to weather.
Ability to work 10-hour days and a minimum of 40 hours per week; storm-related jobs may require up to 16 hours per day.
Ability to lift 70 pounds to shoulder height.
Flexibility to squat and bend.
Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme temperatures.

Nice To Haves

Preferred: 1–2 years of experience in the tree service industry.
Previous experience in the tree service or landscaping industry is preferred but not required.
Valid CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist climbing arborists and bucket operators by managing ropes, lowering branches, and securing tree limbs during pruning and removal.
Follow safety protocols, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to OSHA safety regulations.
Handle and dispose of tree debris, including branches, logs, and other waste, according to company procedures.
Manage and organize tools and materials required for service operations.
Keep work areas safe and clear of obstacles for the crew.
Assist with site preparation, including setting up cones, warning signs, and other safety measures.
Assist with final cleanup.
