About The Position

The Ground Operation Specialist, also described as a Groundman, supports tree-care crews with safe and efficient tree removal, pruning, and maintenance. The role works on the ground assisting climbing arborists and bucket operators, managing equipment and ropes, handling tree debris, cleaning work areas, and helping maintain a safe worksite. Work may involve extended periods away from town, long workdays, and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Requirements

Ability to work 10-hour days and at least 40 hours per week; storm-related jobs may require up to 16 hours per day.
Ability to travel out of town for extended periods or on short notice, generally due to weather.
Ability to lift 70 pounds to shoulder height.
Ability to squat and bend.
Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme temperatures.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of experience in the tree service industry.
Previous experience in the tree service or landscaping industry; experience is preferred but not required.
Valid driver’s license.
Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).

Responsibilities

Assist climbing arborists and bucket operators by managing ropes, lowering branches, and securing tree limbs during pruning and removal.
Follow safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to OSHA safety regulations.
Handle and dispose of branches, logs, and other tree debris according to company procedures.
Manage and organize tools and materials needed for service operations.
Keep work areas safe and clear of obstacles for the crew.
Assist with site preparation, including setting up cones, warning signs, and other safety measures.
Assist with final cleanup.
