About The Position

The Grocery Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The role supports the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals and monitoring quality assurance standards. The clerk embraces the Customer 1st strategy and demonstrates the company's values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. The position involves assisting customers with grocery products, maintaining merchandise quality and availability, stocking and inventorying products, and following food safety and store safety procedures. The clerk also helps maintain a welcoming environment, communicates issues to management, and works cooperatively in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

Customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Help customers discover products and answer questions about grocery items.
Inform customers about food specials and recommend items to help them find the products they want and need.
Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered.
Check product freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
Maintain knowledge of department products and answer questions or make suggestions.
Create a welcoming environment by answering questions about products throughout the department and store.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate manager of items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
Handle customer and business information with honesty and integrity.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer or business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
