About The Position
The Grocery Clerk delivers remarkable customer service by providing exceptional product knowledge, efficient service, and a friendly attitude. The role includes a variety of retail tasks related to products, customer service, and merchandising. The Grocery Clerk works in a typical retail store environment, with noise ranging from quiet to loud and temperatures ranging from regular store temperature to cooler areas. Minimal sitting is required. The position may require use of a baler only for employees who are at least 18 years old and have received proper training. Other duties may be assigned or required.
Requirements
- Be highly organized and attentive to detail.
- Have strong listening and communication skills.
- Be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Be able to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling products or using equipment.
- Regularly stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk around the store.
- Use a baler only if at least 18 years old and properly trained, when required.
Responsibilities
- Greet vendors and build rapport with them.
- Maintain a friendly, outgoing attitude through good eye contact and body language.
- Respond to customer questions effectively.
- Stock products and maintain displays according to merchandising standards.
- Perform basic department cleaning and upkeep.
- Follow safety and sanitation procedures to ensure quality service and products.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
