Grocery Clerk - TEMP(90DAYS) - AVAILABILITY REQUIRED 9AM TO 10PM
About The Position
The Grocery Clerk stocks, rotates, and faces grocery products while providing exceptional customer service and contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment. The role helps prepare the Grocery department for opening and closing, assists customers with product selection, and supports accurate merchandising, product quality, department cleanliness, and store operations. The position works in a grocery store environment and follows a schedule based on business needs. The schedule may change seasonally or due to staffing needs. The role may include evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. This is a temporary position for 90 days, with availability required between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Requirements
- Complete and maintain any required food and work safety trainings or certifications.
- Basic math or computation skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Ability to work the schedule dictated by business needs, including potential evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Ability to frequently and up to continuously stand and walk during a shift; sitting is seldom required.
- Ability to occasionally climb stairs, step stools, and/or ladders, depending on location.
- Ability to frequently use hands and wrists for grabbing, twisting, and pulling.
- Ability to occasionally lift 50 pounds and frequently lift or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Prepare the Grocery department for store opening and closing.
- Assist customers with product selection, share product knowledge, and make recommendations based on customer needs.
- Stock, rotate, and face products, paying attention to product quality and expiration dates.
- Build displays and arrange products attractively, highlighting featured, unique, and seasonal items.
- Complete customer special orders thoroughly and provide follow-through as needed.
- Receive and unload merchandise; check its quality, count, and condition; and communicate issues to management and the merchandising team.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and rotation of department areas, products, and supplies.
- Maintain accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
- Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
- Follow applicable shift guidelines, tasks, and responsibilities.
- Participate in inventories and ordering as needed.
- Stay aware of current advertisements, promotions, holidays, and events, and maintain familiarity with department products.
- Notify the department manager or Manager On Duty about customer service, safety, productivity, security, or other situations that may adversely affect the store.
- Follow company work and food safety policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Contribute to store cleanliness, maintain equipment, conserve company resources, and inform store or department management of problems.
- Work cooperatively and respectfully with team members, customers, and vendors, and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance, adapt to changing tasks and priorities, and perform other assigned duties.
