About The Position

The Grinding Machinist manufactures parts according to plant specifications accurately and in a timely manner using manual and CNC grinding machines. The role includes setting up, programming, and operating grinding machines; inspecting finished parts for conformance to specifications; cleaning the work area; and performing minor machine maintenance such as greasing and oiling. Duties may be expanded as management deems necessary.

Requirements

• Proficiency with hand-measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, and optical comparators.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routings.
• Ability to set up and operate machines and make offsets.
• Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Ability to perform metric conversions.
• Good oral and written communication skills to interact with employees.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be open to working overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• Good mechanical aptitude and/or prior machinist experience.
• Honing and bore grinding experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to multitask, establish priorities, set aggressive goals, and achieve them.
• Experience with Shigiya, Okamoto, Drake, Tschudin, or Sunnen machines.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CNC and manual grinding machines.
• Inspect completed parts to ensure they conform to specifications.
• Clean the work area.
• Perform minor machine maintenance, such as greasing and oiling.
