About The Position

The Grinder Operator is responsible for operating a grinding machine safely while maintaining a clean work area. This role requires knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety protocols specific to the grinding process. The position involves inspecting equipment, parts, and blades for proper repair and sanitation before setup, reading and interpreting work instructions, and accurately identifying raw materials. The operator will assist in verifying lot number usage according to formulas, performing QA checks, and completing production paperwork using basic math skills. Responsibilities also include performing transactions with RF terminals or scanners, communicating effectively during shift changes, controlling product losses, washing down equipment for product changeovers, maintaining a clean work area, boxing raw materials, and ensuring rework is used as specified. The role may require maintaining a forklift license to move product. Team members are responsible for reporting any deficiencies that could compromise food safety. The position involves working in an environment with extreme temperatures ranging from 39F to 90F and requires adherence to GMP standards and safety guidelines. Overtime and weekends may be required. The operator must be able to read schedules, meat sheets, and spec sheets to ensure correct product is on the production line.

Requirements

  • Must have held a position for six (6) months within the past twenty four (24) months with the same employer.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Willing and able to lift up to 80lbs. as required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a grinding machine safely and keep the work area clean.
  • Inspect equipment, parts, and blades to verify they are in good repair and sanitary prior to set up.
  • Read and interpret work instructions.
  • Accurately identify all raw materials used in the grinding process.
  • Assist in the accurate verification of proper lot number usage in accordance with lots specified on formulas.
  • Read, comprehend, and accurately perform any written/typed instructions for an item formulation.
  • Use basic math skills when completing production paperwork.
  • Complete all QA checks and documentation for the raw area.
  • Perform appropriate transactions using RF terminal or scanner.
  • Responsible for shift change communication.
  • Responsible for controlling losses of product.
  • Wash down equipment for product changeovers and discard trash in the proper container.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Box combos of raw materials as required.
  • Ensure that rework is used in each load as specified.
  • Inform proper warehouse personnel in a timely manner of all raw materials needed for the grinding process.
  • Maintain a forklift license to help move product (position may require).
  • Report all possible deficiencies that could compromise food safety.
  • Adhere to all GMP standards and safety guidelines.
  • Work overtime and weekends when required.
  • Read schedules, meat sheets and spec sheets to ensure correct product is on production line.
