This position is responsible for operating a grinding machine safely while maintaining a clean work area. The Grinder Operator needs to be knowledgeable in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety as they pertain to the grinding process. The role involves inspecting equipment, parts, and blades for good repair and sanitation before setup, reading and interpreting work instructions, and accurately identifying raw materials. The operator will assist in verifying lot number usage according to formulas, perform basic math for production paperwork, and complete QA checks for the raw area. Responsibilities also include performing transactions using an RF terminal or scanner, communicating effectively during shift changes, controlling product losses, washing down equipment for product changeovers, discarding trash properly, maintaining a clean work area, boxing combos of raw materials, and ensuring rework is used as specified. The operator must inform warehouse personnel of needed raw materials and may need to maintain a forklift license. A critical aspect of the role is the individual responsibility to report any deficiencies that could compromise food safety. The position requires adherence to GMP standards and safety guidelines, and the willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed. The operator must be able to read schedules, meat sheets, and spec sheets to ensure correct product is on the production line.
