About The Position

Farmington Country Club is hiring a server for its high-volume, fast-paced Food and Beverage Operations team at The Grill, a casual sit-down restaurant and bar serving American Bistro-style cuisine. Servers provide friendly, professional, personalized service to members and their guests. The Grill includes the Bar & Pub, Dining Room, Terrace, and Take-Out, and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. The role involves working in both indoor and outdoor dining areas and may include breakfast/lunch or dinner shifts. Candidates should be available throughout the year, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; the position is not intended for summer-only employment. Servers receive a base wage of $3.10 per hour. Restaurant checks include an automatic 20% gratuity, members may add a tip, and tips and additional gratuity are pooled among the team. Servers also tip out bartenders, bussers, and runners based on a percentage of sales.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 30 pounds.
Must be able to walk and stand for six consecutive hours.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
A high level of professionalism.
Availability to work throughout the year, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of similar food service experience is preferred.
Wine and beverage knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow staff checklists for opening, side work, and closing duties.
Maintain cleanliness and proper setup of tables and chairs.
Learn daily specials.
Greet members by name throughout their dining experience.
Maintain knowledge of food, beer, wine, and liquor, including ingredients and cooking procedures, to provide accurate information.
Take beverage and food orders and enter them accurately into the POS.
Ask for identification from anyone ordering alcohol who appears to be under 30.
Deliver beverages and food according to position numbers and kitchen service standards.
Verify the name and account number on each chit and settle chits accurately.
Keep tables clean during meals and monitor beverage levels.
Provide cocktail service to the Terrace and North Lawn.
Assist with seating and communicate with the host or manager as tables become available.
Clean and reset tables, checking chairs and floors for cleanliness.
Maintain a continuous floor presence during the shift.
Communicate with and assist other floor teammates, taking on busser, runner, or server duties as needed.
Follow Club and department safety and sanitation procedures.
Report lost or forgotten items to managers.
Complete other assigned duties thoroughly and on time.
Advise managers of staff or member concerns and suggestions.
Participate in staff pre-shift meetings.
Adhere to Virginia ABC laws.
