About The Position

The Central Office Grievance Coordinator monitors and oversees the offender grievance system across Vermont Correctional Facilities and Field offices, including the out-of-state population under the DOC Supplemental Housing Unit and the DOC Central Office. The coordinator develops and implements audit standards, conducts ongoing audits of the grievance system, and prepares reports for DOC Executive Leadership. The position reports to DOC General Counsel and may require visits to facilities and field offices for training.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in criminal justice, law, or a related field and at least three years of experience working in a correctional setting; alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent and at least eight years of experience working in a correctional setting.
• Pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, which may include Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, DMV checks, and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and oversee the offender grievance system across state correctional facilities, field offices, the out-of-state population under the DOC Supplemental Housing Unit, and the DOC Central Office.
• Develop and implement audit standards for the grievance system.
• Conduct ongoing audits of the grievance system.
• Develop and complete reports for DOC Executive Leadership.
• Visit facilities and field offices as necessary to provide training.
