About The Position

The Greeter welcomes guests and helps ensure a quality dining experience at 1799 Kitchen and Bar Room at The Harpeth Hotel. The role creates a positive first and last impression by greeting and seating guests, responding to questions and special requests, managing reservations and waiting lists, and coordinating guest flow with servers, management, and the kitchen. The Greeter also helps identify and quickly escalate guest concerns. The dining operation is described as fast-paced, with an emphasis on thoughtful hospitality, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Requirements

Positive attitude and empathy.
Knowledge of restaurant flow and basic systems.
Ability to lift, push, and carry 20–40 pounds.
Ability to stand continuously for long periods.
Ability to communicate information and hotel services to management, staff, and guests.

Responsibilities

Greet guests, escort them to their tables, pull out chairs, and present menus.
Keep entry doors clean, free of debris, inviting, and welcoming.
Ensure menus are clean, complete, and updated with special food and beverage items.
Inform servers of guest locations and assigned stations.
Plan the seating chart and organize evening reservations.
Check reservation information with phone reservationists or voicemail messages.
Coordinate with the manager to ensure private parties are properly staffed and organized.
Check with the kitchen to verify menu items are available.
Stay in contact with servers, the manager, and kitchen to synchronize timing and food preparation with guest flow.
Greet guests as they leave and ask whether they had a pleasant dining experience.
Check with guests for problems and promptly involve a manager when needed.
Answer guest questions, handle special requests such as seating for children or accessibility needs, manage waiting lists, and help resolve issues.
