The Graphic Information System (GIS) Technician is responsible for performing computer graphics duties to maintain data, prepare maps, sketches, diagrams, and other technical drawings and reports. This role involves interpreting and entering field data into GIS, along with various support functions. Key tasks include data capture methods such as creating/downloading land parcels, obtaining current base maps, locating pertinent cultural and environmental data, and other support functions to ensure a correct and complete spatial and tabular database. The technician will create, revise, and maintain technical data for reports, maps, and sketches, and manage material and property equipment records. Information will be gathered from multiple resources including verbal/electronic communications, sketches, marked drawings, field notes, and technical reference manuals. The role requires resolving discrepancies to ensure data accurately reflects field conditions and is responsible for the organization, collection, maintenance, and consistency of data for the GIS.
