About The Position

The Office of Research Services (“ORS”) has an immediate opening for an experienced Grants and Awards Coordinator to assist with internal and external grant and award opportunities at various levels. Reporting to the Manager of Grants and Awards, the successful candidate will collaborate with staff, researchers, and leadership across the CHEO RI research community, as well as external partners and granting agencies. They will support the coordination of funding opportunities, awards, and related processes, ensuring effective communication and strong partnerships within and beyond the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with research experience or minimum of 3 years of experience in the administration of grants and awards. (Essential)
  • Related experience in the development of research proposals, grant and award applications and/or contracts, including project logistics and budget development. (Essential)
  • Familiarity with the health research funding environment and grant agency guidelines. (Essential)
  • Strong conceptual, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. (Essential)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. (Essential)
  • Very strong editorial and documentation skills. (Essential)
  • Advanced computer skills (e.g., MS Office, REDCap, Adobe, internet applications and tools). (Essential)
  • Outstanding organizational, accountability and time-management skills. (Essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively. (Essential)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent grammar, spelling, proof-reading and compositions skills. (Essential)

Responsibilities

  • Advise and support researchers, trainees, and research support staff in the preparation and submission of grant and award applications.
  • Review and provide guidance on application budgets, funding agency policies, compliance, and reporting obligations.
  • Assist with the use of online database for funding opportunities, application forms, and related processes.
  • Provide guidance regarding appropriate funding agency policies, compliance requirements and reporting obligations related to grants and awards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CHEO RI policies and procedures and apply them consistently across all applications.
  • Serve as an expert resource on grants and awards, providing strategic advice to improve applicants’ chances of success.
  • Monitor submission deadlines and ensure timely completion of all grant and award applications and related documentation
  • Liaise with funding agencies, review committees, and internal teams as required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Grants and Awards Office and across the organization to maintain and enhance the grants and awards program, promoting efficiency, consistency, and success in all funding activities.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff, trainees, and researchers on grant application processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate funding records and prepare regular and ad hoc reports, analyses, and studies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve application processes, workflows, and internal systems to support a high-performing grants and awards program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and responsibilities of this position.
