About The Position

The Eating Disorders Discoveries Hub (the Hub) is a unit within CHEO RI that collaborates with clinicians, young people, families, policymakers and thought leaders to drive an evidence-based, integrated system of care for children, youth and families affected by eating disorders across Canada. Our work at the Hub focuses on engaged scholarship, advancing innovation, and co-designing systems and solutions with service providers and service users. As trusted leaders in the field, we: Generate and mobilize high quality research on eating disorders care for children and young people in Canada. Evaluate and translate this knowledge to inform policy and system transformation efforts across the country. Partner with key interest-holders to innovate and co-build discoveries that can improve the lives of those affected by pediatric eating disorders. The Hub at CHEO RI has an immediate requirement for a Grant Writer. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to collaborate with leaders and team members at the Hub. The Grant Writer will coordinate and facilitate grant submissions to support the generation of new knowledge/evidence in the field of pediatric eating disorders. This role is an integral part of the Hub team and requires that the incumbent shows integrity, professionalism and dedication in their work and interactions with colleagues and partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Communications, Social Sciences) (Essential)
  • Minimum 2 years grant writing experience (Essential)
  • Strong skills in research and knowledge of information sources (Essential)
  • Proven experience in grant writing, with a track record of successfully securing funding (Essential)
  • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission processes (Essential)
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge of research related software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, a range of health and mental health related search engines, Reference Manager) (Essential)
  • Outstanding organization and time management skills (Essential)
  • Outstanding commitment to integrity and accountability (Essential)
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of grant applications and outcomes (Essential)
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment (Essential)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential grant opportunities aligned with the Hub’s mission, projects and research interests related to pediatric eating disorders.
  • Monitor and stay updated on funding trends, eligibility criteria, and guidelines across government agencies, foundations, private donors and other potential funders.
  • Maintain an up-to-date comprehensive database of potential funders, including deadlines, requirements, and funding priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Hub’s executive team, subject matter experts, and finance team and CHEO RI Grants and Awards Office to gather information and data needed for grant applications.
  • Draft compelling, evidence-based and well-articulated grant proposals, applications, and letters of intent/inquiry.
  • Tailor all funding submissions to align with specific funder priorities, criteria and formats.
  • Liaise with CHEO RI Grants Office and Hub team to meet internal and external timelines.
  • Coordinate with relevant interest-holders to ensure alignment between proposed projects and funder priorities.
  • Respond to inquiries on drafted and/or submitted proposals.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with funders, partners and other key interest-holders.
  • Work closely with the finance department to develop accurate, compliant and funder-aligned budgets.
  • Prepare and submit interim and final grant reports in accordance with funder requirements and deadlines.
  • Manage the submission process, ensuring that all required documents and approvals are complete and submitted on time.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
