About The Position

This position assists in preparing, editing, and proofreading final proposals. It provides expertise in developing budgets and preparing forms for funding agencies, obtaining information from the Office of Research and translating it into material appropriate for submission according to agency guidelines. The role offers technical advice regarding administrative and financial aspects of proposals, budgets, subcontracting, and indirect cost rates to investigators. It requires maintaining a thorough understanding of guidelines from NIH, DOD, and numerous other agencies, and providing direction to investigators, collaborators, and subcontractors. The position also involves creating, coordinating, and reviewing complex subcontracts, serving as a liaison with contract representatives, and coordinating Conflict of Interest correspondence. Additionally, it develops resources to assist investigators in proposal preparation and award administration, identifies potential sponsors and programs for funding, and communicates funding opportunity information to faculty. A database of divisional bio sketches, departmental resources, and training information is maintained to assist in the preparation of training grants and other multi-departmental initiatives. The role manages the preparation of progress reports, functions as a liaison with study sponsors, and assists in preparing reports to administration regarding research activities and funding. It oversees transactions for grant accounts and tracks research time and effort of study personnel. The Grants Administrator Analyst also performs other related duties as incidental to the work described and as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with four years' experience in grants and coordination or management
  • Equivalent combination education and experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparing, editing and proofreading final proposals.
  • Provides expertise in developing budgets and preparing forms for the appropriate funding agencies.
  • Provides technical advice regarding administrative and financial aspects of proposals, budget, budget justification, subcontracting, indirect cost rates, fringe rates, etc. to investigators.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of guidelines of NIH, DOD, and numerous agencies.
  • Creates, coordinates, and reviews complex subcontracts.
  • Coordinates Conflict of Interest correspondence.
  • Develops resources to assist multiple investigators in the preparation and submission of complex proposals and administration of awards.
  • Confers with the Office of Research, and research available databases such as Community of Science to identify the appropriate funding agencies for projects.
  • Identifies potential sponsors and programs for funding.
  • Maintains a database of divisional bio sketches, departmental, divisional, center, and institutional resource pages and environment and training information to assist in preparation of training grants, contracts, program projects and other multi-departmental initiatives.
  • Manages the preparation of progress reports.
  • Functions as liaison with study sponsors; coordinate updates of grant information.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports to administration regarding the scientific and financial growth of research activities and funding.
  • Oversees transactions for grant accounts.
  • Track research time and effort of study personnel.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to work described herein.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by leadership.
