About The Position

Kentucky State Police is the premier, full-service law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. With the highest level of professionalism and integrity, Kentucky State Police works to prevent, reduce, and deter crime and the fear of crime; enhance highway safety through education and enforcement; protect and safeguard individual rights; and provide leadership, training, technical, and operational support to the criminal justice community. The Financial and Grants Management Branch is responsible for establishing and maintaining an accounting system in compliance with state and federal guidelines. The Grants Section, within the branch, provides the technical expertise to ensure all grants within the agency are administered in accordance with these guidelines. A Grant Administrator assists with the administration of grants by providing technical and historical information to facilitate the effective and efficient management of grants and to provide continuity and consistency in the overall grants program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of research or administrative experience.
  • A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Research, administrative, or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial reports and submit reimbursement requests.
  • Reconciles expenditures and revenues to EMARS.
  • Performs audit assistance.
  • Assists in grant writing applications.
  • Determines grant program objectives.
  • Coordinates with project directors.
  • Assures adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Completes pre-audit expenditures.
  • Analyzes programs.
  • Monitors grant program budget activity.
  • Prepares close-out letters.
  • Prepares grant budgetary revisions.
  • Manages postings of electronic fund transfers.
  • Provides estimated cost figures with regard to purchases, overtime, allocations, federal caps, and remaining balances.
  • Provides projections on cost for alternative activities.
  • Assists others within the branch and agency to eliminate backlog.
