About The Position

Founded in 2008, Indigenous Youth Roots (IYR) is a national Indigenous youth-led organization dedicated to empowering Indigenous youth as leaders in their communities. Requirements

  • 3+ years in roles related to project oversight or program development.
  • 3+ years in roles related to funding or granting.
  • Strong administrative experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the launch and implementation of granting streams.
  • Communicate with grantees regarding decisions, necessary information, and contract issuance.
  • Monitor and manage internal processes, including grantee timelines, granting stream implementation, and stream impact reports.
  • Oversee internal processes for grant applications, reviews, and approval determinations.
  • Co-lead the Granting Advisory Circle and Granting Review Circles, including scheduling, facilitation, and recommendation oversight.
  • Oversee relationship building and outreach initiatives related to grantees, funders, and community partnerships.
  • Liaise with internal partners (Finance, Communications, etc.) to support program functionality, payments, and outreach.
  • Lead communications initiatives for Granting Programs, including developing a strategy and supporting website updates.
  • Act as the primary system administrator for granting software.
  • Manage special projects, including planning logistics, scheduling, and monitoring budgets.
  • Support the evaluation of programming and the dissemination of impact and outcome reports.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and expenditures across various projects.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting requirements, both internally and externally.
  • Build a culture of shared leadership by mentoring managers and team leads in relational accountability and adaptive change practices.
  • Facilitate learning cycles within teams to foster reflection, feedback, and course-correction.
  • Regularly assess and recommend adjustments to the organization’s procedures and policies.
  • Promote a collaborative, transparent, and accountable organizational culture that reflects IYR’s values.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, working groups, and committees.
  • Uphold and promote the organization’s cultural values and guiding principles.
  • Engage with the Indigenous community and support initiatives that strengthen relationships and collaboration.
  • Carry out duties in a manner that ensures health and safety for self and others, reporting hazards, incidents, and injuries.
  • Cooperate with and support occupational health & safety measures.
  • Maintain high ethical standards, demonstrating integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness.
  • Support and participate in all IYR staff, department, and team meetings.
  • Participate in external and internal committees, working groups, or projects as required.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.
