About The Position

Deighton Associates Ltd. is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join the team on an 16-month contract to provide maternity leave coverage. This role will lead and oversee the full HR function, ensuring continuity, compliance, and a positive employee experience throughout the contract term. The Human Resources Manager will act as a trusted advisor to leadership, manage a team of HR professionals, and oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, onboarding and offboarding, employee engagement, and the legal and compliance aspects of HR.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources.
  • 7-9+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience managing people.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience across recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and HR compliance.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Sound judgment and ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance operational HR demands with strategic thinking.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Deighton Associates Ltd.’s HR team, providing clear direction, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Set priorities, allocate work, and ensure timely and consistent HR service delivery.
  • Promote collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the HR function.
  • Oversee full‑cycle recruitment across Deighton Associates Ltd., including recruitment requests/tracker, job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and offer management.
  • Partner with internal recruiter, hiring managers to understand business needs and deliver effective hiring solutions.
  • Ensure recruitment practices align with equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • Continuously review and improve recruitment processes and tools.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employee relations matters, including performance concerns, workplace conflict, attendance management, accommodations, and terminations.
  • Conduct and oversee workplace investigations, ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and appropriate documentation.
  • Provide practical, risk‑aware guidance to leaders on employee relations matters.
  • Oversee performance management processes, including goal setting, biannual performance reviews, and development/career planning.
  • Ensure consistent application of performance standards across the organization.
  • Oversee a consistent and welcoming onboarding experience for all new hires at Deighton Associates Ltd.
  • Oversee probation tracking, role clarity, and early employee engagement.
  • Oversee and support offboarding processes, including exit interviews, system access removal, and final documentation.
  • Analyze onboarding and exit feedback to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and support employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and follow‑up action planning.
  • Partner with DAL directors to strengthen organizational culture and employee experience.
  • Support initiatives related to recognition, wellness, inclusion, and employee communication.
  • Oversight of employee events (planning, execution, and budget).
  • Governance and evolution of the Deighton Platinum Club program (employee recognition program).
  • Ensure Deighton Associates Ltd.’s HR practices comply with applicable employment legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
  • Review, maintain, and update HR policies, procedures, and templates.
  • Partner with DAL external legal counsel when required on complex or high‑risk matters.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and documentation.
  • Provide HR advice and support to the leadership team on workforce planning, organizational change, and people‑related risk.
  • Support ongoing HR projects and initiatives during the contract period.
