About The Position

This Graduate Nurse Rotational Program (GNRP) is designed for nurses graduating in Fall/Winter 2026 who are looking to start their nursing careers. The program offers a unique opportunity to rotate through various units within UPMC Mercy, a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Burn Center, gaining diverse experience. Participants will work alongside experienced nurses for mentorship and guidance. The program focuses on the Trauma Burn Track and will begin in March 2027. Previous participants have rotated through units such as 11E Trauma Ortho, 5F Trauma Burn Acute Care, and 7E Rehabilitation, with opportunities to shadow in the Trauma Burn ICU or Emergency Department. Upon completion of the 10-month program, placements are determined through a collaborative matching process based on participant preference, Hiring Manager preference, and business needs.

Requirements

  • Graduating from nursing school in Fall/Winter 2026.
  • Eligible for State Board Licensure and successfully pass the examination before beginning this role.
  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse required prior to program start date.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Basic Life Support
