About The Position

UPMC Altoona is seeking Graduate Nurses (GNs) who are graduating with their undergraduate nursing degree in or before Fall/Winter 2026 to launch their RN career. This is a full-time RN Staff Nurse position. UPMC Altoona is a 380-bed level III trauma center serving as a regional referral center and tertiary hub for UPMC. GNs are considered for various departments including Acute Care Units, Progressive (Stepdown) Units, Intensive Care Units, Emergency Department, Acute Dialysis, Operating Room, Inpatient Behavioral Health, and Magee Women’s Birthing Center.

Requirements

• Graduating with an undergraduate nursing degree in or before Fall/Winter 2026.
• Eligible for State Board Licensure and either successfully pass the examination before beginning this role OR will have the ability to start with TPP (temporary practice permit) and must obtain license within 6 months.
• Diploma, associate, bachelor’s, and direct-entry master’s degree levels are welcome.
• Must hold a current license to practice nursing in the State of Pennsylvania (or meet multistate NLC requirements).
• Must satisfactorily complete the Nursing Department's orientation program and probationary period.
• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Registered Nurse (RN).
• Act 34 with renewal.
