About The Position

This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the production and operations team as we continue to expand and develop our Durand facility. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will assist in supporting manufacturing and operations by programming laser-plasma plate cutter and other CNC machines, improving tools and processes, and project related product changes. This will include investigation, planning and implementing new engineering processes, methods and tooling facilities in conjunction with manufacturing departments.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree (Manufacturing, Mechanical or equivalent) or technical certification
  • Entry‑level role; experience may include internships, co‑ops, or academic projects

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with heavy equipment
  • Experience using Creo, Auto-Cad or equivalent engineering software
  • Knowledge and use of quality analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to read and create engineering drawings
  • Understanding of Jig & Tool design, in particular for welded fabrications
  • Requires the ability to convert designs into production action plans.

Responsibilities

  • Actively involved in continuous process improvement with manufacturing including; Identifying and actioning waste elimination
  • Able to convert configurable designs into automated bills of materials (BOMs), process routings, assembly instructions, and CNC programs.
  • Write, maintain, and optimize cutting programs for the sites Laser – Plasma combo sheet steel cutter and CNC lathes, mills, and other specialized manufacturing equipment
  • Ensures configuration software is up to date and reflects current manufacturing capabilities
  • Ensuring support process documentation with particular attention to visual management techniques and 5S
  • Proactively utilize both lean principles and problem-solving tools and techniques within the workplace to respond to production variation and build quality issues
  • Verify manufacturability of new products or product changes to include but not limited to; manpower, equipment, tooling, ergonomics and cost feasibility
  • Develop ergonomic processes designed around Lean Manufacturing principles including Yamazumi and 5S
  • Work on cross-functional projects to ensure smooth transition across the manufacturing facility
  • Defining and implementing build processes with consideration to appropriate Health, Safety and Quality standards
  • Conducting periodic inspections of various aspects of the manufacturing process such as, but not limited to assembly, welding and machine operations
  • Assists with optimizing efficiency by learning to analyze layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization
