Spring 2027 - Graduate Associate - Recreational Programming
About The Position
The Graduate Associate supports Recreational Services programming, with a primary focus on Intramural Sports leagues, tournaments, special events, and weekly drop-in activities. The role includes supervising programs, assisting with student staff management, supporting safety and risk-management practices, maintaining equipment and supplies, and promoting recreational programming. The associate also collaborates with Recreational Services staff and campus partners and serves as a point of contact when a professional staff member is absent. The position is for Spring 2027, and any offer is contingent upon acceptance and enrollment in Winthrop University’s Graduate School.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Prior knowledge or experience with sports.
- Acceptance and enrollment in Winthrop University’s Graduate School are required for an offer.
Nice To Haves
- Prior involvement in Intramural Sports.
- Officiating experience.
Responsibilities
- Create schedules using IMLeagues software and supervise Intramural Sports leagues, tournaments, and special events, primarily in the evenings and occasionally on weekends.
- Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student staff.
- Organize and oversee weekly drop-in programming.
- Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, for programming and events.
- Assist with revisions to policy and procedure manuals and sport-specific rule books.
- Assist with safety and risk-management procedures through trainings and mock drills.
- Assist with documenting inventory and maintaining equipment and supplies.
- Assist with creating promotional materials and marketing Recreational Services through social media and promotional events.
- Collaborate with Recreational Services staff and campus partners to enhance programming opportunities.
- Serve as a member of the professional staff and as a point of contact when a professional staff member is absent.
- Attend Recreational Services staff meetings as assigned.
- May pick up additional hours assisting in student staff positions, paid at an hourly rate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
